Don't you just love staring at a blank screen? I know I do (just kidding!) Even after all of my years of
writing, I am not a huge fan of the blank screen. I just know it's taunting me to "Get Writing!" or something equally as obnoxious. To thwart it I have a to-do, or in my case a to-write, list. Take that, blank screen! I kind of know what I'm going to blog about or put as a Facebook status update and that, my writerly friends, is a boon to my creativity.
Think an
editorial calendar can't work for you? Take it from me, it can. I became a fan (grudginly) when I worked at the newspaper and I began to fall deeply in love with them when I became a newspaper editor and my love was cemented by the time I started my own magazine. Now that most of my writing has migrated toward online platforms, my editorial calendars have migrated with me even though I still use old fashioned paper calendars for my planning. An editorial calendar can be used to schedule posts for
Pinterest(plan specific types of picture posts for specific days of the week, for example), YouTube, Google+, your direct mail campaigns, blog writing as well as your email marketing campaigns. This handy tool serves multiple purposes and is more than worth your time to formulate.
